RNP Reaction to Chairman Wellinghoff’s Resignation from FERC

The Chairman of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), Jon Wellinghoff, submitted his resignation via letter to President Barack Obama on May 29th, stating that he will stay in his position until a new commissioner is confirmed.


Stated Rachel Shimshak, RNP’s executive director, of the Chairman’s announcement:


“Chairman Wellinghoff has been an excellent leader for FERC and has played a critical role in shaping our nation’s evolving energy policy. He was clear on his priorities when he took on his role and he has followed through with his commitments. We are extremely grateful for his clarity of purpose, his emphasis on creating a more efficient transmission system, and his support for fair, non-discriminatory policies related to the integration of new, clean energy resources.  His leadership and vision has helped the country move toward a clean energy future.“


President Obama has yet to nominate a replacement.
