Renewable Northwest Project Announces New Hire

Portland, Ore. - The region’s leading renewable energy advocacy group, Renewable Northwest Project, today announced that Varner Seaman has joined the group in the role of Policy Director.  In this position, he will work to advance policies for renewable energy in the Northwest with key decision makers.


Seaman brings extensive political and renewables expertise to this role. Previously, he worked for EDP Renewables in government and regulatory affairs. In that capacity, he served on RNP’s Board of Directors.


"Varner Seaman is an excellent addition to our team and advocacy work in the Northwest," said Rachel Shimshak, executive director at Renewable Northwest Project. "His experience with businesses developing renewable energy resources in the Northwest and his negotiation background will serve him well in this role."


Seaman has served as the Western Caucus Chair of the American Wind Energy Association and on several boards including the Interwest Energy Alliance and Independent Energy Producers Association in California. He holds a degree from Earlham College.
