Newly Established Paul Woodin Memorial Scholarship Accepting Contributions

Renewable Northwest Project is seeking contributions for the newly established Paul Woodin Memorial Scholarship, which will provide support for the education of Northwest students at the Columbia Gorge Community College (CGCC) Renewable Energy Technology Program.

Paul Woodin passed away on March 2, 2012, but his legacy as leading innovator, advocate and renewable energy facilitator is indelible among all who knew him. Paul was a U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran, and a veteran of the Northwest region’s now-vanished aluminum-smelting industry. He recognized the renewable energy industry as an opportunity for his region’s workforce and a solution for Northwest communities. Through his involvement with the Community Renewable Energy Association (CREA), he was a visionary among peers and a mentor for emerging renewable energy leaders. We can think of no better way to honor Paul than to ensure that his passionate commitment to education, innovation and his region's communities continues through generations to come.

The Paul Woodin Memorial Scholarship will be implemented through the CGCC Foundation. The opportunity to contribute offers a unique supplemental option for organizations’ and individuals’ holiday gifts and corporate end-of-year giving campaigns.

To donate, please make checks payable to the CGCC Foundation, citing the Paul Woodin Memorial Scholarship in the notes section. Please send checks to: Columbia Gorge Community College, Resource Development, 400 East Scenic Dr., The Dalles, Oregon, 97058. Contributions to the CGCC Foundation, an Oregon 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, may be tax deductible. CGCC Foundation's federal tax identification number is 93-0749519. All donations will be acknowledged and receipts will be sent to donors for their records.

The CGCC Foundation website offers online giving options for one-time donations and recurrent gifts. The online option allows donors to include a note as to where they would like their donation applied, so the Paul Woodin Memorial Scholarship Fund can be cited. While the online option is a safe, quick way to donate, there is a small fee associated with online transactions. For donors who wish to make large donations, we recommend contacting Darlene Marick at the CGCC Foundation office at 541-506-6111 with credit card information or, by sending a check.
