RNP Releases New Renewable Energy Economic Development Fact Sheet for Oregon

Renewable Northwest Project has released an updated fact sheet on the economic impacts of renewable energy development in Oregon. It details job and investment impacts from wind solar and geothermal development in the state.
 
Some of the many highlights covered include:
 
  • The renewable energy sector has invested over $5.4 billion in Oregon so far, with over $4.5 billion of that coming from the wind industry.
  • Oregon is a leader in solar manufacturing, employing 1,700 currently with more on the horizon.
  • Since 2001, Oregon has seen more than $143 million invested in residential and commercial solar projects, employing hundreds of installers.
  • Over $120 million has been invested in geothermal exploration, research and project development since 2009.
  • Oregon ranked #2 in the 2010 U.S. Clean Energy Leadership Index.
