Wind project construction underway

PORTLAND, Ore. - Towers, turbines and blades began arriving last week at the Port of Vancouver for the 140.5-megawatt Marengo wind project under construction near Dayton, Wash. The equipment will be trucked to the Dayton site beginning this week.

The Marengo project was purchased in October by PacifiCorp, which serves electric customers in Oregon, Washington and California as Pacific Power. The wind facility is expected to have the capability to serve the needs of approximately 37,000 customers. Target completion date is Aug. 1, 2007.

Foundations for 11 out of the 78 planned turbines are complete at the site, and crane assembly is underway to prepare for arrival of the towers.

The shipments will continue for the next 16 weeks with a maximum of eight complete turbines delivered per week.
