ROBERT VAN BROCKLIN
Robert Van Brocklin concentrates his law practice in land use law, energy development and project siting, and in federal, state and local legislative and administrative law and policy matters. In land use, Bob has assisted industrial, commercial, retail, residential, surface mining and other clients on comprehensive plan, zoning, conditional use, annexation, urban growth boundary, development review and other matters. In energy development he has represented clients to site gas fired and renewable energy generation facilities.

Bob has assisted clients in a wide range of legislative and administrative proceedings in the Northwest and at the federal level. He has written and successfully lobbied into law numerous changes to federal, state and local rules, regulations and policies. He has appeared and testified at congressional and state legislative hearings and at federal, state and local rulemaking and contested case hearings and has represented clients in informal administrative law disputes and policy formulation matters.

Bob is active is many civic and charitable activities, including the Portland Business Alliance Board of Directors; Portland Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors (past member); Portland Schools Foundation Board of Directors (Vice Chairman); Portland Public Schools Bond Measure Campaign (Co-Chairman); Regional Arts and Culture Council (member); Portland Center Stage Board of Directors (Secretary); Oregon Shakespeare Festival Board of Directors (past member); Oregon Symphony Association Board of Directors (past member); Duniway Educational Foundation Board of Directors (past Chairman); Northwest Business Committee for the Arts Board of Directors (past member); member, St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Portland; and Head Coach, Sellwood Titans Women’s Basketball Organization.

Prior to joining the firm, Bob served on the legislative staff of U.S. Senator Bob Packwood of Oregon; on the professional staff of the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation, Subcommittee on Science, Technology, and Space; and as Director of Government Affairs for the City of Portland.

Bob has a J.D. (1980), and a B.S. (1997) from the University of Oregon.
